A person who has a short position in any specified capital markets products (e.g. shares, business trusts and REITs listed on SGX) that hits the short position threshold will be required to report the short position.
The short position threshold is the lower of:
(a) 0.2% of total issued shares in the relevant class of shares or units; or
(b) S$ 2,000,000.
Short positions are determined on Position Day, which is the last trading day of each week (typically a Friday). Short position holders will have to submit their short position reports within 2 business days from Position Day.
For more details, please refer to the Guidelines for Regulations on Short Selling.
